Evacuations at fires in northern, southern Colo.

Authorities have sent out 998 evacuation notices near a wildfire burning on more than 108 square miles in northern Colorado, as winds create new spot fires.

Some residents who received notices Friday had only returned home two days earlier after leaving when the fire flared up Sunday.

The fire had been listed at 60 percent contained, but that slipped to 45 percent Friday as the fire grew.

In southern Colorado, a new 300-acre fire near Mancos is threatening at least 10 structures and has prompted officials to evacuate some homes east of town.

Elsewhere a 1,150-acre wildfire near Lake George is 87 percent contained. A fire near Pagosa Springs has grown by about 1,300 acres in the last 24 hours.
