Springs heroin bust nabs 19

Colorado Springs police and the DEA arrest 19 people after a year-long investigation.

Of the 19 arrested, eight were under the age of 21.

Police say the investigation started in May of 2011.

During the investigation, detectives made a series of undercover buys and identified those who were involved, discovering links to the Colorado Springs group.

Police also say there were rumors that the Colorado Springs group was responsible for selling heroin to high school students.

On June 5, 2012, police arrested five members of the group.

During the arrest, police found approximately two pounds of heroin, cocaine, guns and cash.

On June 6th, investigators with DEA and the FBI conducted operations targeting street-level dealers and users in the Springs.

Eight adults and one juvenile were arrested.

During the operation, police say four individuals posed as heroin customers and threatened an undercover officer.

Police say those four were charged with attempted robbery and conspiracy.

In total, this operation resulted in 19 arrests, the seizure of 2 pounds of heroin, three ounces of cocaine, three handguns, two vehicles and $14,500 in cash.
