Colorado Springs issues fire restrictions

The Colorado Springs Fire Department has instituted fire restrictions.

The restrictions go into effect at noon Friday, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

The ban is a result of dry conditions based on lack of precipitation and high temperatures that have left the wildland fire danger to be high, the fire department said.

“The city’s vegetation is extremely dry. Trees and brush are a critically low moister levels which make them vulnerable to an ignition,” a fire department news release says.

The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice, when weather and fuel conditions improve, according to Fire Chief Rich Brown.
