A wind shift is moving smoke front the High Park Fire near Ft. Collins down the Front Range of Colorado and across the Pikes Peak Region.

The smoke has prompted several people to call 911 to report a possible fire. Area police and fire departments are asking you not call 911 unless you see a specific column of smoke or flames.

Specific advice from the State Health department includes the following:

Stay indoors with doors and windows closed and use air-conditioning

If you have to go outdoors consider wearing a surgical mask and avoid exertion

If you take medications for respiratory conditions make sure you are taking the prescribed amount and keep them with you
