Pueblo West grandma at war with rats

It’s a huge problem for a Pueblo West woman: There are hundreds of huge rats behind her house.

Marie Giannetto said they’re breeding on the land behind her home, a big portion of which belongs to a church nearby.

She said her biggest concern is the diseases they can carry, especially since she frequently has her grandchildren over. She’s tried everything to get rid of them, including shooting them with her gun.

“For some, I ring their neck with a shovel, and I get down, and they cry, and I go, ‘You know, it’s either you or me,'” said Giannetto.

Giannetto has been in contact with county officials and hopes a controlled burn will kill the rodents.
