Investigation Uncovers Sexual Assault

A Colorado Springs man was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a child Friday night.

In November, 2011, detectives began investigating an alleged sexual assault on a child.

The investigation revealed that a 27 year old man living in the 6000 block of Scottsbluff Drive engaged in sexual contact with a 13 year old girl multiple times from 2006 to 2007. The victim was approximately 7 years old when the assaults began, police said.

On Wednesday, a search warrant was executed at that home, according to police. The male suspect was taken into custody and booked for the felony charge of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Then, on Friday, he was also charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and identified as 27 year old Ryan Cardman.
