Springs Woman Arrested After Assaulting An Officer

Officers arrested a Colorado Springs woman after she kicked a police officer in the face.

Police said Jana Hayman, 24, was in the 900 block of North 19th Street Saturday night when officers responded to reports of a woman screaming and items being broken.

When an officer arrived, Hayman walked out and was confrontational with him. He waited for backup to arrive. She continued to yell profanities at him while the officer attempted to calm Hayman down.

He handcuffed her and put her in a marked police car.

Officers then said she slipped her left hand out of the handcuff and started kicking the rear window of the police car. Police attempted to handcuff her again, but she started fighting with officers.

Hayman ended up kicking an officer in the face two or three times.

She was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance and then booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Hayman was charged with first-degree assault on a peace officer and second-degree assault on a peace officer.
