Former Teacher Sentenced In Child Sex Assault Case

A former Fountain Fort Carson High School teacher convicted of having a sexual relationship with a child was sentenced to 5 years of community corrections on Tuesday.

The judge also ruled that Anthony Ribaudo must serve at least 10 years of sexual offender supervised probation after his community corrections sentence.

Ribaudo admitted to police that he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student in May 2011. He pleaded guilty in February to sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

The El Paso County District Attorney’s Office says that neither the victim nor her mother wanted Ribaudo to serve jail time.

Police sources told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the girl?s mother found out about the relationship after finding sexually explicit text messages on the girl?s cell phone. Police said there were about 1,500 messages sent from Ribaudo’s phone to the girl.

The girl admitted to a child advocate that the pair had sex twice, once at the school and once at the home of Ribaudo?s brother.

Ribaudo resigned from the high school following his arrest in June. He was the dean of students, in addition to his coaching duties.
