Pueblo City Council Asks City Manager To Resign

City Manager Jerry Pacheco accepted their request to resign, but not before apologizing to City Council.

“I apologize to the community and the council that my private life has spilled, rightly or wrongly into the public realm.

?All wrongs begin getting fixed with an apology,? said City Council President Chris Kaufman.

City Council accepted his apology, but they still asked him to resign as city manager, but he will remain the director of city planning.

Pacheco has been making headlines lately. Target 13 first broke the news back in October when he was accused of having an improper relationship with the city?s HR director.

His latest scandal: a hit-and-run accident. The 911 call said, ?He?s rolling back into my car. I can?t believe this.?

The woman who called police said he was driving erratically. However, the accident wasn?t the reason the council asked Pacheco to resign; it?s what happened after the accident.

?His decision not to stop,? said Kaufman.

The council didn?t have to go far to hear what a handful of Pueblo residents wanted. There was a protest right outside City Hall.

But, not everyone agrees with the protesters.

“I have the same number of people who have invested their own money, their own blood, sweet and tears into this community, who think very highly of Jerry Pacheco, ? said Kaufman.

Kaufman said he couldn?t comment on whether or not Pacheco could come back as city manager. His temporary replacement will be interim Deputy City Manager Jenny Eickelman.
