Former Youth Program Director Accused Of Child Sex Assault

An El Paso County man is accused of molesting a child he was supposed to be caring for.

Michael Broadnax, 29, was arrested Friday on a charge of Sexual Assault on a Child By One in a Position of Trust. Broadnax was the Program Director at the Axios Girls Facility in Green Mountain Falls at the time of the alleged offense in January. Investigators said the girl involved was a 13-year-old client at the youth home.

The Axios Youth Community cares for abused and neglected children. Its center for girls has shut down since the investigation began against Broadnax in February, and it now only runs a facility for boys. An employee told KRDO Newschannel 13 that the Axios CEO recently resigned. We were told the new head of the organization wouldn’t be available until Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office is releasing few details about the case because of the age of the alleged victim. KRDO Newschannel 13 learned that Broadnax plead guilty to domestic violence last July. Several child abuse charges were dropped in that case.

Broadnax bailed out of the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a $25,000 bond Friday night.
