Heavy Damage After Fire Near Academy & Dublin

A two story home near Dublin and Academy was heavily damaged in a fire late Thursday.

The first calls went out about 10:20 p.m. to the home on 6440 Brook Park Drive.

Crews arrived to find flames coming from the roof of a residential home that was undergoing a remodel.

Multiple trucks were called in to fight the fire, and the block was closed off to traffic.

One challenge facing crews; a tall fence and some heavy trees and shrubs that made the home difficult to access.

It took about 30 minutes to knock down the flames.

Investigators were called to the scene, but it was too early Thursday night to speculate on the cause of the flames.

The homeowner was also called to the scene. It’s not known if this was a family’s permanent residence, or if it was a home being prepared for resale.
