Missing Hiker And Daughter Found Safe

A Colorado Springs woman and her 8-year-old daughter were found safe Monday morning after they went missing during a hike.

38-year-old Angela Stiner and her daughter, 8-year-old Alysia Cruz went hiking on the Beaver Creek Trail north of Penrose. They arrived at the trailhead around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and had planned a day hike. They had reportedly texted a friend at 5:00 p.m. saying everything was fine. When the friend didn’t hear from them by 10:00 p.m., he/she reported the pair missing.

50 personnel from 10 different agencies searched the area and found the mother and daughter around 11:00 a.m. They were escorted by search crews out of the area. Stiner told authorities they had enough food and water, but the trail was longer than she thought. Since it was getting dark, they decided to stay put until daylight.

The two had minor cuts and scrapes but were otherwise fine.
