Kidnapping Suspect Arrested In Springs
Colorado Springs police arrest a man for kidnapping, after tracking cell phone calls for hours.
Police say they got a 911 call a little before 2 a.m. Monday. The caller said someone was shooting at him. The call came in on a cell phone with an unknown location.
Police say the caller thought he was near Garden of the Gods Park. Officers descended upon the area but could not locate the caller. The phone was disconnected.
The caller called 911 back and the 911 operator could hear the caller speaking with another party about being shot at. This call was eventually disconnected, as well.
Officers from the Falcon Division and The Gold Hill Division tried to find and identify the caller without success. Around 2:35 a.m., with no new information or phone calls, the search was called off.
Then about ten minutes later, more phone calls were received by CSPD and this time the call takers could hear the party giving locations near Lake Avenue. Other locations were given as the party was moving north.
A little after 3 a.m. police found the victim and the suspect on Garden of the Gods Rd.
The suspect, Matthew Jaramillo, was taken into custody without incident.
A loaded handgun was found in the car. Mr. Jaramillo will be charged with Second Degree Kidnapping, along with numerous other charges.
