Evacuations Ordered For Residents Near Colo. Wildfire

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has issued the first evacuation orders for residents near the growing wildfire.

Residents have been evacuated from Bonner Springs Ranch Road to 287 and South. The Evacuation Center is being established at Cache La Poudre Middle School, 3515 West County Road 54G in La Porte, Colo.

Public school students have been told to stay inside and avoid outdoor activities after an air quality warning was issued because of the wildfire.

The Colorado health department said Thursday older adults and children should limit prolonged exposure.

The fire, which authorities say was human-caused, grew from 1,000 acres to more than 5,000 acres overnight.

The blaze is still only about 5 percent contained as of Thursday morning. Nearly 400 firefighters headed back to the fire lines on Thursday, including two Colorado Springs Fire Department firefighters.
