4 Arrested After Crashing Stolen Car Into Pawn Shop

Colorado Springs police arrested four people after a late-night burglary at Acme Pawn in the 3900 block of N. Academy Blvd.

Police responded to the call shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The criminals crashed a stolen car into the business to gain access through a side wall.

They stole items from the store, including electronics, jewelry and possibly, a few weapons.

Police said they collected evidence at the scene that led them to an apartment nearby.

Officers obtained a search warrant and entered the apartment. They found stolen goods from the Acme Pawn shop–as well as other pawn shops in Colorado Springs.

Elsewhere, officers also found the stolen car. Its rear was badly damaged, and police said the owner of the car did not know it had been stolen when the burglary happened.

According to police, they arrested four people, three of them adults. Police think they may be linked to other, similar burglaries. The adults arrested are Brandon Jay, Michael Vidal, and Kodiak Gonzalez — all in their late teens or early 20s. The juvenile’s name is not being released.

There has been a rash of burglaries in which criminals have crashed stolen cars into buildings to gain access, police said.

The investigation into the Acme pawn burglary is ongoing. Police said they may make more arrests.
