Police: Sex Offender Warning From Manitou Schools Is Wrong

Parents from Manitou Springs School District 14 received an email warning on Tuesday about a registered sex offender approaching a student, but Manitou Springs Police say it was wrong.

Police say they are investigating a suspicious incident, but there is no reason for parents or students to be alarmed.

KRDO Newschannel 13 initially went to the D-14 district office, but was told no information was available on the incident and to contact police. The district did not return a later voice mail message about whether it had been notified by police that the warning was incorrect.

Police say they will release more information about their investigation on Wednesday and attempt to clarify the situation. Stay with KRDO NewsChannel 13 and KRDO.com for updates.
