Russell Middle School No Longer Locked Down

Russell Middle School in School District 11 was locked down for about an hour on Friday afternoon.

The school, near Flintridge Dr. and Montebello Dr. W., was locked down as a precaution because of police activity in the area.

Colorado Springs Police tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that a woman reported that her husband was suicidal. She also told police they had two children who attend Russell Middle School. The school was notified and, as a precaution, placed the school on lockdown.

Police searched the parking lot and the immediate neighborhood for the husband and his vehicle but did not find it. The mother came and picked up her children from the school.

As of 3:30 p.m., the lockdown has been lifted.
