Two Charged In Deadly Saguache County Crash
Two men were taken into custody on Tuesday for their involvement in a deadly car accident in Saguache County.
The crash happened on March 11th on Camino Del Rey Rd, about three miles south of Crestone.
Investigation revealed that 24-year-old Zachary Paul Lemasters, of Crestone was driving a 2003 Saturn 4 door, eastbound on Camino Del Rey at a very high rate of speed. His vehicle traveled off the south side of the road and rolled one time.
There were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. One of the passengers, 22-year-old Travis Timm was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
23-year-old Max Friedrichs, a 17-year-old female, and a 17-year-old male were also passengers in the vehicle. All three of them were taken to San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center for their injuries. The 17-year-old male was later flown flight for life to a Denver Metro area hospital.
On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Lemasters for the following charges, with the bond set at $100,000:
1. Vehicular Homicide While Under the Influence (F3) 2. Vehicular Homicide Involving Reckless Driving (F4) 3. Vehicular Assault While Under the Influence (F4) 4. Vehicular Assault Involving Reckless Driving(F5) 5. Driving Under the Influence (M) 6. Driving Under the Influence Per Se(M) 7. Reckless Driving(M) 8. Possession of a Controlled Substance (LSD)(F6) 9. Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4). An arrest warrant was also issued for Friedrichs, the front seat passenger, on the following charges:
1. Possession of a Controlled Substance (LSD) (F6) 2. Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4). Lemasters and Friedrichs both turned themselves into the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. Friedrichs posted his $10,000 bond and was released from custody.
