Pueblo Kidnapping Suspect Will Go To Trial

A judge decided Wednesday that a Pueblo man accused of kidnapping two girls will go to trial.

29-year-old Jose Garcia is accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend’s daughter in January. Police say he took that girl out of school then returned her later in the day. Later that same day, he kidnapped another 9-year-old girl as she left Colombian Elementary School.

An Amber Alert was issued and the girl was found the next day at the Circle K convenience store near Interstate 25 and Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs. Garcia fled from the store on foot and was later arrested downtown.

The judge ruled on Wednesday that there is enough evidence to proceed with the both trials. He will be charged with 2nd degree kidnapping and sexual assault on a child by one in a position in the trial involving his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. In the trial against the other girl, he’s formally charged with second-degree kidnapping and two counts of sexual assault on a child.
