Margaret Sweet’s Killer Walking Among Us

For anyone else, three and a half years is a relatively short amount of time.

For the Egger Family though, the last three and a half years have been a long nightmare from which they cannot awake.

The morning of December 25, 2008, Jim Egger made a discovery no father could imagine: he found his daughter, Margaret ?Mae? Sweet, shot dead on his front porch.

Since then, the family has been waiting for answers. The trail has gone cold.

Colorado Springs Police Cold Case Detectives are confident someone has information that will break the case, and bring Margaret?s killer to justice.

Leading up to Margaret?s death, she and Jim had been taking turns caring for Jim?s wife, Penny, who was recovering from surgery.

The night of December 24, 2008, Margaret left St. Francis Rehabilitation to go to her parent?s home on Fosdick, by way of a stop at a drug store. Jim stayed with Penny. Around 11:30 that night, a neighbor heard an argument. A man said the cuss word, and then gunshots rang out.

Returning home 5:50 Christmas morning, Jim discovered Margaret dead from a gunshot.

?I have a hole in my heart, and it’s doesn’t heal,” said Egger.

CSPD Cold Case detectives, and Margaret?s family confirmed she did not have any known enemies.

Investigators did discover, however, Margaret Sweet went by an alias ? Shelby Jamison ? that was unknown to her family.

?They took her cell phone, they took my computer, and they took hers, and that’s when they found out about and that’s when they found out about this other life that she’d been living with a different name,” said Egger.

Still, detectives are certain that someone can help crack this unsolved mystery.

?We believe that someone has information in regards to this case,” said CSPD Homicide Detective Michael Montez. ?A lot of times they tell people. And relationships change over the years. People get divorces, people get angry with one another.”
