Victim In Alleged “Make My Day” Law Shooting ID’d

Colorado Springs Police have identified the victim of a shooting at a Springs apartment complex.

On Saturday, 20-year-old Gary Williams was shot in the head at the Mountain Country Estates at 155 S. Academy Blvd.

The shooter has not been arrested and says that Williams was an intruder.

?He basically tried to force his way in here with a gun,? said the 30-year-old shooter, who asked to remain anonymous. ?He put it to my head. I just happened to have one too.?

According to police, they did not observe any obvious forceful entry into the apartment. But the father of three insists the man he shot was trying to steal from him.

?Any man would do the same thing I did if they were in my position,” he said.

Williams was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

Police are still trying to determine exactly what happened. If anyone has any information about this case, they are asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
