Man Wanted In Shooting Arrested

Pueblo police have arrested a man wanted in a shooting.

Police said Jerry Jaques, 33, shot a man in the leg Thursday night at a home on the 2600 block of Sprague Avenue.

Investigators said a Crime Stoppers tip lead them to a home on the 1100 block of 29th Lane Sunday night. The tipster said Jaques was in the house and had a weapon on him, according to police.

Officials said an investigation at the scene lead them to believe Jaques was hiding in the house. Officers got a search warrant and a SWAT team was called in at about 8 p.m., police said. Officials said Jaques refused to come out, so officials released gas into the home.

Investigators said Jaques was found hiding in a crawl space in the home, he was tased and taken into custody. Jacques was booked into the Pueblo County Jail on $75,000 bond. Investigators said they seized several guns from the home.

Jaques faced charges of first degree assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators said he shot Jimmy House, 28, after the two got into an argument Thursday.

Police said Jaques is a known gang member. Investigators said Jaques’ ex-girlfriend had asked House to try to talk to Jaques about leaving his gang life behind. Jaques refused and fled the scene after the shooting, officials said.

House is expected to recover.
