Pueblo Police Look For Shooting Suspect

Pueblo Police are asking for your help locating a fugitive accused in a shooting and previously arrested for domestic violence and assault.

Jerry Jose Jaques, 33, is wanted for first-degree assault with a deadly weapon for a shooting that happened Thursday night. Police said Jaques shot Jimmy House, 28, in the leg around 7 p.m. outside an apartment at 2629 Sprague Ave.

Police said House and Jaques’ ex-girlfriend were trying to convince Jaques to get out of a gang, that Jaques refused to leave, and that he fled after the shooting.

“You just never know what these guys are going to do,” said police Detective Glen Fillmore. “They’re out and about in our city with a weapon, they’re shooting people and have no regard for safety or lives.”

Pauline Castillo, a neighbor, said she thought the gunshot was a firework exploding and went to see what was going on.

“I saw (House) sitting there on the curb,” she said, pointing to an area of spattered blood. “He was crying, telling the neighbors he had just (been) shot.”

Fillmore said House was recovering from non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. Police also seek another man believed to have been with Jaques at the time of the shooting.

Jaques is described as a 33-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and a tattoo under his left eye. Police said he was driving a gold Chevy pickup truck with a Colorado tag number of 307-TEO. Police said you should contact them immediately if you see him, and to consider him armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on Jerry Jaques, you are urged to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867) or visit their website at www.pueblocrimestoppers.com.
