Dogs Linked To Attack Being Put Down

Thor and Rizzo, the dogs linked to Wednesday afternoon’s attack of a man and his dog are going to be put down at the Pikes Peak Humane Society. I just learned late Thursday afternoon that the owner of the animals signed the papers to allow the Pikes Peak Humane Society to euthanize them. That procedure on the animals will be done Thursday night or Friday.

Wednesday’s attack by Thor and Rizzo happened off Byers Avenue near Southgate. The man was walking his dog. He and his dog were both attacked. The man has bites on his face, shoulder, legs and his face. The dog was also hurt. Both are recovering.

Thor had been linked to a March 2010 attack and his owner faced a dangerous animal charge. Rizzo was not linked to that attack, but was connected to Wednesday’s attack.

Despite the dogs being put down, the owner and a woman who was taking care of animals, still face a dangerous animal charge.
