Court Documents Reveal Disturbing Child Abuse Details

An 8-month-old boy from Pueblo is in a Denver hospital, after falling victim to possible abuse at an east-side home, according to police.

Our news partners at the Pueblo Chieftain report that Lawrence Anthony Tenorio, 34, turned himself in Friday.

He has since posted a $75,000 bond, and is free while awaiting trial.

According to Tenorio’s arrest affidavit, he is suspected of injuring an 8-month-old boy who suffered multiple skull fractures, swelling and hemorrhaging. The child also tested positive for the presence of drugs in his system.

Police think the the abuse might have taken place April 25, while the boy’s mother took a nap at Tenorio’s home on the 800 block of East 13th Street.

The child belongs to Andrea Martinez, 20. She tells police that she woke up from a nap about 2:00PM and found her son laying limp on the sofa, his eyes rolled back into his head.

Tenorio told the boy’s mother that the child was walking while holding himself up on the couch when he was knocked down by his dogs.

Tenorio reportedly told Martinez the child was “okay” and that “they don’t need to go to the hospital.”

According to the court documents, doctors in Denver cannot pin down an exact cause for the baby’s injures, but a toxicology report on the child did show the presence of cocaine in his system.
