Woman Challenges Gym Over Billing Problems
A Colorado Springs woman said Gold’s Gym kept taking her money after she cancelled her membership.
“Since we cancelled in December, we checked our bank account in January… nothing came out… then charges started showing up in February,” she said.
The woman who preferred to remain anonymous because she is pressing legal charges said her attempts to deal with the company were unsuccessful.
“When I tried to speak to establishment not helpful, when I tried to speak to corporate not helpful,” she expressed.
The woman made the ultimate decision to close her bank account after taking advice from her bank.
Then she said the gym sent her to a collections agency.
“What I’m afraid of is they’ll continue to bill me… and get bigger and bigger collection notices,” she said.
In a statement to KRDO News Channel 13. Gold’s Gym said the mistake was a billing issue.
“The apparent accounting error was unintentional and occurred as a result of a change in ownership of our club. We hope to bring closure to the matter as soon as possible,” said general manager Ray Trevino.
