Standoff Ends With Fugitive’s Death
A wanted man took his own life during a standoff with El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies responded to a home in the 14000 block of East Coachman on a report that a fugitive was there. Deputies tell us that the 56-year-old male had felony warrants out of Denver.
When deputies arrived, the man refused to drop a revolver and threatened to kill himself. He proceeded to walk around the property, continuing to make threats to himself and also threatening to make a deputy shoot him.
SWAT units took over the situation and a negotiator attempted to reason with him. Eventually, the man put the gun to his own head and fired one shot. An ambulance arrived on scene and took him away. EPSO confirms to us that the man is dead.
No law enforcement officers were hurt during the incident.
