Crews Save Pikes Peak Hikers

El Paso County Search and Rescue has saved a group of hikers on Pikes Peak that needed help getting back down.

The hikers were about a mile from the summit when they called for help around 6 p.m. Saturday night. El Paso County Search and Rescue officials said one hiker has a broken leg and three others suffered from hypothermia.

A Fort Carson public information officer says that the hikers were a visiting group of soldiers that were doing training manuvers on the Peak.

Teller County Search and Rescue also assisted with the operation.
