D-49 Board Member Resigns

District 49 announced on Friday that a board member has resigned.

Joan Johnson was elected in November of 2011. She has resigned her position effective immediately. Johnson has requested the board hold a special meeting within the next 24 hours to accept her resignation which will be at 4:30p.m. tomorrow.

The district will be declaring a vacancy at their April 25th meeting. Colorado law requires the position be filled within 60 days. The newly appointed director will finish Director Johnson’s two-year term and will need to run for office in 2013.

“We appreciate Mrs. Johnson’s perspective on the board. It will be missed,” said Tammy Harold, Board President.

We are working to find out the circumstances surrounding Johnson’s resignation. Stay tuned to KRDO.com and NewsChannel 13 for updates.
