Hasty/McClave Fire Captain Dies In Car Accident

The Chief of the Hasty/McClave Fire Department on Tuesday announced the death of Captain Brad Smartt.

Captain Smartt passed away on Saturday from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on April 2nd.

He has served on the department for 10 years in capacities including chief mechanic, training officer, and most recently, Captain.

In the announcement, Fire Chief Clay Hasser says that Captain Smartt took great pride in keeping the Department’s fleet in top shape. Chief Hasser says that Smartt had a sense of humor that kept things light around the station or on long calls.

A memorial service for Captain Brad Smartt will be held at the Hasty Fire Station, 1209 South Main, in Hasty on Friday April 13 at 10:30 a.m. Fire departments that wish to attend please R.S.V.P. to Hasty/McClave Fire Department by Thursday 8p.m. with approximate number and if you are bringing apparatus. If you are bringing apparatus please limit to one per department and if possible have it at Hasty Station by 9:45 a.m. for placement prior to the arrival of the family.
