Soldiers Return Home For Easter

Families all over the country celebrated Easter with their families. In Fort Carson, dozens of soldiers threw their arms around their loved ones. They were just happy to be home from deployment, so they could spend time with their families.

A total of 145 soldiers from the 127th Military Police Company came home for Easter. Their job overseas was training troops and law enforcement in Afghanistan.

“We mostly concentrated on the police and army. We wanted to make sure they could finally take care of themselves, so we could return home,” said Sgt. Anthony Petro who was one of the soldiers who was fortunate enough to be home for Easter.

After 12 months of being deployed overseas, members of the company were eager to get their arms around their loved ones. “Everyone just cheering and welcoming us home with open arms . That definitely made me feel good,” said Sgt. Petro from the 127th Military Police Company.

Sgt.Petro says he was just happy to be back in the arms of his wife again. “First person I saw was my wife. She is the one who has kept me going this entire deployment. Obviously my daughters mean a lot to me, but my wife has kept me motivated to get home,” said Sgt. Petro.

“Seeing him come home to me this weekend was just a replay of when we first met,” said Dawn Petro who is the wife of Sgt. Petro.

Two year old Ava and 4 year old Allison were also excited to see their father. The whole family is thankful for their own Easter miracle. “It is a blessing. It is awesome. You couldn’t have picked a better holiday,” said Petro. “I want to go home with you daddy,” said Ava Petro who is the daughter of Sgt. Petro.

Some members of the 127th Military Police Company are back for good. Others are just on leave during their current tour of duty.
