Court Hears About Explicit Stories From Carrier’s Computer

Jurors in Joshua Carrier’s child sex abuse trial heard testimony Wednesday about eleven explicit short stories found on Carrier computer, the same day prosecutors rested their case.

The stories, attributed to different email addresses, were all sexual in nature and involved children, but many were not complete. Prosecutors had the lead Colorado Springs police detective on the case summarize 10 of the stories and read one, seemingly the most explicit, out loud.

Det. Samantha Lembergs spent at least 10 minutes reading a story about an orgy between a coach and several middle-school age boys. One of the boys involved, an 11-year-old, was described as being under 5 feet tall.

The stories were the subject of a motions hearing earlier in the case where Carrier’s defense attorney’s argued they were irrelevant to the case. Carrier is not facing any charges as a result of the stories because all types of erotic literature are legal.

Carrier’s attorney, Chris Decker, objected to the stories being admitted Wednesday saying prosecutors intended only to “enrage the passion of the jury.”

Later Wednesday, prosecutors called their last witness, Dr. Jim Tanner, an expert on how sex offenders think and the management of sex offenders post-conviction. He testified about how offenders often behave and groom victims.

Since the prosecution rested earlier than expected, court is in recess until Friday morning when the defense had expected to call its first witnesses. There will be motions hearings on Thursday.
