Suspect Arrested In Pueblo West Burglaries

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a man on charges of second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools, both felonies.

50-year-old Gary Biby was arrested on Monday.

On March 23, 2012 patrol deputies received a tip from a local citizen about a man (later identified as Biby) who was in the area of the 900 block of Calle de Caballos Dr. in Pueblo West dropping off loads of items in the early hours of the morning.

Later that evening, a different citizen called about a suspicious truck in the 1100 block of E. Holiday Dr. in Pueblo West. When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle abandoned. While they were patrolling the area, they witnessed a male party (again identified as Biby) jump the fence of a storage facility. He ran from deputies and was not apprehended at that time. The vehicle was registered to an address in the 900 block of Calle de Caballos which alerted deputies to the earlier report.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and deputies identified stolen property from several cases in both the city and county of Pueblo. It is undetermined at this time how many burglaries have been committed and connected.

The arrest of Mr. Biby in the 500 Block of Acero in Pueblo also led Sheriff’s deputies to more stolen items that were taken in as evidence. Detectives are currently going through all the items found and locating owners.

Additional felony charges are pending and more arrests are anticipated in this case.

Sheriff Taylor commends the Pueblo West Neighborhood Watch program and the citizens who contacted law enforcement when they believed they witnessed suspicious activity.
