Police Sgt.: At Least 6 Dead In Calif. School Shooting
A total of nine people were shot Monday at a California religious college, said Sgt. Christopher Bolton of the Oakland Police Department.
“We believe that six have been pronounced dead at this time,” he said.
Several other wounded people were taken to hospitals, police said.
The shooting took place at Oikos University, located at 7850 Edgewater — in an area of warehouses near the Oakland International Airport.
Highland Hospital spokeswoman Jerri Applegate told our ABC affiliate in San Francisco, KGO-TVKGO-TV, that five shooting victims were being treated there. She gave no information on their conditions, saying that was a police matter.
KGO-TV reports that police have detained someone they believe is connected to the shooting. The shooting suspect is described as an Asian male with a heavy build and wearing khaki clothing.
