Fire Ban Issued For Conejos County

The Conejos County Sheriff’s Office has issued a county-wide Stage One fire ban and restrictions.

The Office says the ban is due to the low humidity and high winds we’ve been experiencing.

Sheriff Robert Gurule says the ban on open fires includes burning trash, lawns, weeds, fields, camp fires, warming fires, charcoal grill fires and the use of fireworks. Gas grills at private residences and fireplaces within buildings are not included in the Stage One ban, according to the sheriff.

People who violate the ban will be issued a summons to appear in Conejos County Court.
