Animals From Cruelty Case In Need Of Homes

Pueblo Animal Services (PAS) is looking for permanent homes for animals that were seized due to abuse.

In January, the Human Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) executed a warrant at the property of Valerie Harris. They seized over 65 animals, including equines (horses, donkeys, mules), dogs, a cat, and a llama. The animals were found starving on her property in Boone.

Since the seizure, the animals have been in the care of PAS and HSPPR shelters as well as other livestock facilities. Harris originally posted a cost of care bond to insure her ownership of the animals. The bond has now elapsed allowing HSPPR to find permanent homes for these once neglected animals.

All of the animals that are available as a result of this cruelty case can be seen on the HSPPR or PAS websites: www.hsppr.org or www.puebloanimalservices.org. They will be adopted on a first come, first serve basis.

HSPPR says that rehabilitating these neglected and abused animals has cost the shelter thousands of dollars. HSPPR is seeking donations to support their continued care until these animals can be permanently placed.
