Two Shot And One Arrested in 7-Eleven Shooting

Police say they have arrested a man, and are investigating another person of interest in the 7-Eleven shooting that happened at the corner of Chelton Road and Fountain Boulevard. Bryan Anthony Batts, 25, has been arrested in connection with the crime. Police say they found a shotgun and handgun in one of the cars. Police are still looking for the second car and witnesses who can help them solve the case.

“I heard what sounded like automatic gunfire, what sounded like multiple rounds were shot. I called the police right away,” said David Dew who works near the site of the shooting. He was alarmed by the chaos that erupted from two cars parked at the 7-Eleven, right across from where he earns a living.

There was some kind of verbal disturbance between the two vehicles, gun shots were exchanged. “When I heard the gunfire, I saw a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. This led me to believe they were the shooters,” said Dew.

According to police, a person in one car pulled out a sawed off shotgun, then someone in the other car pulled out an automatic pistol. Colorado Springs Police say 20 gun shells were found and buildings were damaged.

“Six shots were fired, and there was one that hit the door on the bottom,” said Jess Wilson who saw the aftermath of the gun fight. The shooting, however, wasn’t the end of the chaos.

” One of the vehicles that did leave the scene, struck another car in the parking lot,” said Sergeant Jennifer Lewis. Ten minutes later, Memorial Hospital got two unexpected visitors who had been shot.

Police continue to search for witnesses. “It is a warm night we know it was pretty busy, I am sure there was someone out there who saw something. We really need you to step forward,” said Sergeant Lewis.

If you know anything about Saturday night’s shooting please call Colorado Springs Police, or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867.
