Airmen at Schriever AFB Help Fellow Airmen
A group of airmen at Schriever Air Force Base are raising money to help fellow airmen and break a world record.
Two teams of 10 men have been playing dodgeball since 12:01 a.m. Thursday and they plan to play until 4:01 p.m. Friday.
Sr. Airman Michael Bruno said he and two friends came up with the idea months ago and started getting sponsorships.
Individuals have pledged donations and all of the money raised is going to the Air Force Assistance Fund, which is made up of four charities that help airmen, veterans and their families.
The current record for longest marathon of dodgeball played is 32 hours. Schriever’s airmen are planning to play for 40 hours.
Bruno said the event is about building community and is happy to be raising money for such a great cause.
