Southern Colorado Reacts To Manning News

People who bleed orange and blue here in Southern Colorado are offering mixed reactions to the news that Peyton Manning will play for the Denver Broncos.

“There’s no question manning is the way to go,” said Rob Humphries. “I like tebow,” said Stephanie Smith.

In stores, the news of Manning coming to town has already caused a rush.”I’ve already had people coming in putting their name on a sheet. so they can get stuff as soon as it hits the storm,” said Santana Garcia from the Sports Fanatic Apparel Shop.

There was also a rush for a different type of apparel. “First thing this morning people were coming in asking if I had any more Tebow stuff left,” said Garcia.

The question is whether the decision was just business.”It was just a business decision, you have got to do what it takes to make the team better, and this makes the team better,” said sports fan Rob Humphries.

Or is it personal.”Tebow was sold out real quick when they thought they could get something better,” said sports fan Jason Layman.

Some people say they are emotionally involved in the decision. “I was really sad. I was depressed. I did not want Manning at all,” said sports fan Stephanie Smith.

But when it comes down to the facts, it is hard to dispute the legendary status of Peyton Manning. He has endured 14 long seasons of football. “He is an icon where he comes from. He is a hall of fame quarterback, and he is in the mile-high now,” said Garcia.

His experience, however, can also work against him. “I don’t want Peyton Manning at all. He is old. He had that neck injury. He should retire,” said Smith.

The hope, however, is that both quarterbacks succeed.
