I-25 South Of Trinidad Reopened

I-25 is back open after shutting down near Trinidad. CDOT decided to close due to low visibility and snow pack roads.

The roads were snowy and several cars slid off the highway.

Drivers were forced to either wait it out or stay in a hotel. Many didn?t want to take the risk of driving in the dangerous conditions.

Dennis Shockley, a truck driver, said he planned on waiting it out. He had been stuck in Trinidad since 10 a.m.

He was forced to chain his tires.

?I was losing traction. Those trailers are empty they are not loaded today, so that’s a danger,? said Shockley.

I-25 was reopened Tuesday afternoon.
