7-Eleven Back Open After Hazardous Leak

A Colorado Springs 7-11 is back open after a hazardous gas leak.

Colorado Springs firefighters closed the 7-11 on Uintah and Glen Streets after a carbon dioxide leak.

The carbon dioxide alarm rang at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters said when they arrived on scene an employee was showing systems of gas poisoning and was taken to the hospital.

Officials said the soda machine was broken and leaking carbon dioxide. The store will remain closed until the machine is fixed.

Firefighters said, like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide is colorless, odorless and can be dangerous at high levels.

The store was back open by 9:30 Saturday night.
