Woman Shoots Man In Stomach

El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a shooting south of Widefield.

A man was shot in the abdomen in the 500 block of Griffith Way at around midnight Friday. Deputies arrived at the scene and found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A female was also located and interviewed regarding what had occurred. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

Investigators determined there was an argument between the man and woman and, ultimately, the victim shot by the suspect with a rifle. The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Sarah Rael.

Rael has subsequently been charged with Criminal Attempt Second Degree Murder. She is in custody at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a no bond as the charge is a Domestic Violence Offense. She is scheduled to go to advisements tomorrow and her bond will be set at that time.
