Woman Runs Into Oncoming Traffic, Causes Serious Accident

All lanes of I-25 have reopened in Pueblo on Tuesday afternoon after a serious accident.

According to Pueblo PD, a male driver pulled his vehicle over into the median on I-25 between the Ilex interchange and 1st St. because a female passenger in his car said she felt sick. The driver says that once he stopped the vehicle, the female got out and ran into northbound traffic.

Police said they are investigating the accident as an attempted suicide.

The victim is a 52-year-old woman. She is in critical condition at Parkview Medical Center.

She was hit by a truck that was carrying a trailer loaded with cinder blocks. The truck tried to miss her and collided with another vehicle. The second vehicle spun into the median divider wall. The driver of the truck and the occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.

Pueblo PD says the extent of the female’s injuries are unknown at this time. She was transported to Parkview Medical Center for treatment. Police say they are treating the investigation as an attempted suicide.

Northbound I-25 was closed for several hours while crews cleared the interstate. As of 3:00 p.m., the interstate has reopened.
