Troopers: Deadly Crash On Highway 24

Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on Highway 24 just east of Cascade.

One lane of Eastbound 24 is closed.

One person, identified by troopers as Hilda Correa, 71 died in the crash.

Correa had been reported missing by family members after she failed to show up to pick up a relative in Colorado Springs on Monday, troopers said.

Troopers had been looking for Correa along Highway 24 and eventually spotted tire tracks Tuesday morning that led off the road toward Fountain Creek, said troopers. That led to the discovery of the car, according to the State Patrol.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office and Troopers are investigating whether she died in the crash or sometime later. CSP says that prescription medication could be a factor in the crash.
