911 Call Leads To Child Abuse Suspect Arrest

A 911 call led to the arrest of a child abuse suspect and possibly saved the victim’s life.

Dispatch received a call from a home in the 2400 block of N. Cascade around 9:15 p.m Monday. The call was lost and reconnected several times. Dispatch could hear voices in the background that indicated a disturbance was occurring, possibly with a knife.

Officers arrived at the home and found that a 12-year-old boy had been assaulted, choked, and threatened with a knife. Police arrested 55-year-old Phillip Patterson, the boy’s father, for Felony Child Abuse and Felony Menacing. Police say that Patterson also threatened an adult roommate with the knife.

Police say the boy was taken to Memorial Hospital and had serious injuries that could have been potentially life-threatening.
