Teen Arrested After Attempted Burglary In Pueblo West

A 15-year-old boy was arrested after an attempted home burglary in Pueblo West early Monday morning.

Deputies from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of W. Questa Dr. after a 61-year-old female called to say someone was trying to break into her home.

The woman was home alone at the time and said she could hear glass breaking. Deputies arrived around 3:30 a.m. and found a broken window in the home and shoe and tire impressions left in the mud. They then saw a silver vehicle fleeing the scene.

Deputies followed the vehicle but lost sight of it after a short pursuit. However, deputies were able to get a license plate number, description of the vehicle, and saw there was only one male inside the car.

Deputies went to the listed address of the vehicle and saw the described vehicle arrive at the home. A 15-year-old inside the vehicle was taken into custody.

The teen was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit 2nd degree burglary, criminal mischief, and felony vehicle eluding.

The Sheriff’s Office says the case is still under investigation and it is highly possible that the teen was not alone during the attempted break-in. The homeowner estimates the amount of damage to her property to be about $1,850.
