District 49 Reworking Bus Fees

Falcon District 49 is working on a new plan to add more bus stops and charge students less on their way to and from school.

This year students pay $1 dollar to ride the bus to school and another dollar to take the bus home. The new proposal for next school year would be a flat rate of $200. Saving the everyday rider almost $150.

Stephanie Meredith with District 49 said, “it’s more beneficial to the families, because it allows them to know what their cost is going to be regardless of how much their kid has to ride the bus.”

This goal of reducing the cost as well as adding extra pick-up and drop-off locations is to increase riders. The proposal will go in front of the district board in April to get final approval.
