Truck Crashes Into House

Colorado Springs police say a driver may be looking at reckless driving charges for crashing into a house located at the 2300 block of Jet Wing Drive, near South Academy and Astrozon.

The fire department had to pry the driver out of his truck.

Firefighters say he was conscious and talking when they took him to the hospital.

The owners of the house, however, are still in shock.

“All of a sudden,I hear a ‘boom’ sound. And I said ‘holy cow, someone hit the house’. I knew exactly what it was,” said Russelle Ollig. He and his wife Dorothy were inside his house when a truck crashed through their bedroom wall. Luckily, they were in the kitchen at the time.

“The truck busted all the studs, knocked over the dresser, and busted the bed. It did a lot of damage,” said Ollig.

An officer told KRDO Newschannel 13 that the driver was speeding when he headed into a turn, did a 180 degree turn, and flipped into the Olligs’ house.

“It is a raceway up and down here. It’s nothing to see motorcycles and cars going 70 miles an hour through here,” said Ollig as he described the street in front of his house.

According to Victoria Fernandez, her 17-year-old friend was behind the wheel. Some people thought the driver was speeding along with another car when he hit a turn, and flipped into the house. “I really just hope he is doing alright,” said Fernandez.
