Body May Be Colorado Mom Who Ran Escort Service
Colorado investigators say they’re waiting for DNA tests to confirm that skeletal remains are those of a missing mother of three who ran an escort service, unbeknownst to many of her friends.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office says the remains have been tentatively identified as 34-year-old Paige Birgfeld, of Grand Junction, who disappeared in 2007.
A hiker found the remains Tuesday in a dry creek bed in neighboring Delta County, an area of western Colorado that was searched after Birgfeld disappeared. It’s being searched again.
Friends knew Birgfeld as a devoted single mother who sold kitchen products and did other odd jobs. Authorities say she also ran an escort service.
In October 2007, investigators identified Lester Ralph Jones as a suspect, but nobody has been arrested.
