UPDATE: One Lane Reopened On SB I-25 Near Pueblo
Southbound I-25 near Pueblo due to a tractor-trailer fire.
As of 1:15 p.m., the fire has been extinguished. The interstate remained closed from mile marker 110 to 114 for several hours during cleanup. At 2:45 p.m., the left lane of I-25 has reopened. The right lane remains closed and delays are to be expected in the area.
The tractor-trailer was carrying non-hazardous, organic fertilizer. PCSO requested mutual aid from Pueblo West Fire Department. Colorado State Patrol’s Hazardous Materials Team also responded.
Responders detached the trailer from the cab of the truck and have successfully extinguished the fire. Emergency responders are redirecting traffic at the scene.
Two other fires have been reported in Pueblo County, and both are unrelated brush fires east of this incident. Citizens are reminded to avoid any use of open flame outdoors today due to the high winds and low humidity.
We have a crew at the scene. Stay tuned for updates on KRDO.com and NewsChannel 13.
